Description:
1. Ambala Cantonment is one of the oldest Cantonments of our country. In order to meet the educational requirements of the children of the Air Force personnel, Air Force Children School was established in 1975 with primary classes and eventually as the requirement arose extra classes were constantly added to the school. In 1981 Air Force School was affiliated to the CBSE. Class X was added in 1983. It acquired the status of Sr. Secondary School in 1995. Presently it offers all streams, namely, Science (Medical, Non Medical), Commerce and Arts. In a span of years since acquiring the status of Sr Sec School, it is one of the premier educational institutions in this region. In the academic session 2009-2010 the school was adjudged as the Best Senior Secondary School in Western Air Command and Indian Air Force.
2. Aim : The main aim of AIR FORCE SCHOOL is to impart quality education based on Public School ideology to the children of AF personnel at reasonable cost. Besides giving knowledge of the 3R's, special emphasis is laid on Indian culture, values, defence orientation and our ancient heritage to ensure over- all development of a child's personality so that he/she becomes a responsible citizen of the country.

4. Status Of The School : AF school is co-educational institution which imparts education upto Sr Sec level . It has all streams namely Science (Non medical, Medical) , Commerce and Arts stream . The school is affiliated to CBSE.
5. School Building : Air Force School is located at Church Complex, Alexandra Road (Class I to XII). It has two wings i.e Race Course (LKG - V), Pinto Lines (Pre - Primary). The two wings act as feeder schools for the main school besides catering to the needs of students from a well dispersed domestic camp. The Main School building was constructed in 1996 out of Public fund. However, the Primary wings are housed in re appropriated Air Force Buildings. The school has 43 class rooms, three Science Labs, Four computers Labs, One Mathematics Lab, One Music room, NCC room, Library, Sports Room, Staff Room, Human Resource Development Cell etc.
6. Strength : Total strength of the school as on date is 1241 students. Out of these 120 students are in PL and 215 in RC school. 906 are in Main school.
7. School Staff : There are 60 teachers and 29 non teaching staff on school rolls. All the teachers are qualified and proficient in their subject.
